Root & Light Co. is born from the real work of caring — the long nights, the repeating questions, the exhaustion, and the love that stays even when memory doesn’t.
We are here to honor the caregivers who keep showing up, and to help fuel dementia research — because care is sacred and hope is worth fighting for.
We carry the light forward, one imperfect, deeply human day at a time.

I’ve always found a kind of steadiness in flowers. Especially the ones that don’t try to be perfect. I’ve always found a kind of steadiness in flowers. Especially the ones that don’t try to be perfect. The ones that grow a little wild, dry gently, and keep their shape long after the season has passed. They feel honest to me. They bloom, they fade, and they’re still beautiful. Nothing forced. Nothing pretending.
I’m drawn to the simple, grounded ones — wheat and oat stems, bunny tails, strawflower, statice, eucalyptus, billy balls. The kinds of flowers you’d find in an old farmhouse kitchen, sitting in a jar on the table because someone picked them on their way in. Quiet, familiar, real.
Dried bouquets remind me that beauty doesn’t end when things change. It just becomes something different. They hold memory. They stay. They don’t ask to be replaced.
Working with flowers has become a way for me to slow down. To breathe. To put my hands to something gentle when life feels heavy. Arranging them is like listening. It makes space for both the soft and the hard things.
That’s why flowers are at the heart of Root & Light Co.
Not because they’re pretty.
But because they’re true.

Dementia has touched many of the people I love — my grandmother, my aunts and uncles, family friends, and now my dad. I’ve watched them fight for themselves in ways most people will never see. And I’ve watched the people who love them show up — tired, heartbroken, steady — because that’s what love does.

Dementia has touched many of the people I love — my grandmother, my aunts and uncles, family friends, and now my dad. I’ve watched them fight for themselves in ways most people will never see. And I’ve watched the people who love them show up — tired, heartbroken, steady — because that’s what love does.
A few years ago, I stepped away from my career so I could learn how to care for my dad in the most loving way I could, as his daughter. I am not his primary caregiver — my mom carries that role with so much strength, patience, and love. I walk beside her. I support her. We face the hard days together. And there are many.
I’ve seen the grace-filled moments and the ones that break you open.
The kind where grief and love sit in the same room.
This disease asks for more than seems human some days.
And still — love stays.
Somewhere in that season, I found myself returning to flowers.
Their softness. Their resilience.
The way they hold beauty and impermanence at the same time.
They reminded me of caregiving — tender, imperfect, real.
A quiet act of tending, again and again.
Root & Light Co. grew from that place.
From the hands that keep holding.
From the hearts that refuse to walk away.
From the love that bends but does not break.
I’m here to honor caregivers — the quiet heroes — and to help support dementia research, because families deserve better answers.
Because hope matters.
Because love deserves room to bloom, even in hard soil.
One bouquet at a time.
One family at a time.
One light carried forward, even on the days it flickers.

We take care of the people who find their way here. If you reach out, we’ll respond. If something’s wrong, we’ll make it right. We believe in honesty, kindness, and staying human in all of this. You’re not just a transaction to us. You’re part of the story.
